Ravan Bhaat & Fruit Curd Rice


Yesterday We had South Indian Dinner.
Its my Aai's  Recipe, Very spicy and tangy yum yum yum...
I don't know why it is known as Ravan Bhaat ha ha ha........ funny name but very tempting.

Ravan Bhaat and Fruit Curd Rice



Ingredients:

Ravan Bhaat
  1. Boiled Basmati Rice: 5 Cups
  2. Urad Dal: 1 Cup
  3. Coconut Slices: 1/2 Cup
  4. Sesame Seeds: 1/2 tbs
  5. Peanuts: 1 Cup
  6. Fenugreek Seeds (Methi dana) : 2 tsp
  7. Mustard Seeds (Raai): 2 tsp
  8. Coriander Seeds (Khada dhana): 2 tsp
  9. Roasted Chana Dal : 0.5 Cup 
  10. Dry Red Chilly : 8 Nos
  11. Curry Leaves: 20 nos
  12. Asafoetida: 2 tsp
  13. Tamarind Pulp : 3 tbs
  14. Sesame Oil: 2 tbs
  15. Jaggery : as per taste
  16. Salt: as per taste

Fruit Curd Rice:
  1. Boiled Basmati Rice: 3 cups
  2. Thick Curd: 2 Cup
  3. Apple :1 no
  4. Pomegranate : 1 Cup
  5. Carrot: 1 no
  6. Sweet Corn : 0.5 Cup
  7. Curry leaves : 10 nos
  8. Finely chopped Green Chilly: 1 tsp
  9. Mustard Seeds: 1tsp
  10. Urad Dal: 2 tsp
  11. Peanuts: 1 tbs
  12. Asafoetida: 1tsp
  13. Mint leaves: 1 tsp
  14. Chopped Coriander leaves : 2 tbs
  15. Sugar : as per taste
  16. Salt: as per taste
  17. Cooking oil: 1 tbs
Procedure:

Ravan Bhaat
  1. Heat 0.5 tbs of Sesame Oil, add 1 tsp Raai, Fenugrrek Seeds, Coriander Seeds, 6 Dry Red Chilies, 12 Curry leaves, Sesame seeds,  3/4 cup Urad dal , 1/4 cup Chana dal, 1/2 Cup Peanuts and Roast all together around 5 to 7 mins on low flame,turn off gas aside set it aside.  
  2. Dry Grind Roasted Mixture for making Fine powder.
  3. Heat 0.5 tbs oil in pan and add Tamarind pulp and Jaggery saute til jaggery melts.
  4. Take Boiled rice in a big flat bowl, add Tamarind pulp mix and fine powder and salt. mix it properly
  5. Heat 1 tbs Oil in Pan, Add Hing, Raai, remaining Curry leaves, Urad dal ,Chana dal, Red Chilies, Coconut ans Peanuts.
  6. Add this Seasoning (baghar) in Rice, and mix it , Garnish it with chopped Coriander.
Fruit Curd Rice:
  1. Take Rice and Curd in a bowl and mix it properly .
  2. Add, Small square dices of Apple, Boiled Sweet Corn, chopped Carrots,Pomegranates, Coriander,Finely chopped green Chilies,Salt and Sugar mix together gently.
  3. Heat 1 tbs Oil in Pan, add Hing, Raii, Curry leaves, Urad dal, Peanuts and saute it.
  4. Add this Seasoning on Curd Rice and mix it gently.
  5. Garnish with Mint Leaves.
  6. Keep in freeze for 30 mins before serving.
