Today is Maha Shivratri which literally means 'the great night for Lord Shiva is one of the most auspicious festivals for all the Hindus.From early morning, Shiva temples are flocked by devotees, they keep severe fast or take Falahar (restricted ingredients in food and fruits), chant mantra "Om Namah Shivaya",maintain long vigils during the night, keeping awake to listen to stories, hymns and songs.
So Today on Such an auspicious festival, sharing my new healthy and nutritious recipe made by using Makhanas (Fox Nut), Apple, Milk and Khajoor (Dates).
Royal Makhana Apple Kheer with Sweetness of Khajoor
Serves: 4
Preparation Time: 10 mins
Cooking Time: 15 to 20 mins
Ingredients:
- Makhana (Fox Nut): 2 cups
- Apple (small): 1
- Dates: 8 nos
- Milk: 3 cups
- Condense milk: 1/2 cup
- Green Cardamon Powder: 1 tsp
- Finely Chopped Dry-fruits (Cashew nut, Pistachio, Almond):1/4 cup
- Raisin: 8 nos
- Ghee: 1/2 tbs
- Saffron strands: 6-7 nos
Procedure:
- Heat ghee in pan and roast Makhanas and keep it aside.
- Boil Milk in skillet , add condense milk and boil again for 6 to 7 mins, stir in between.
- Coarsely crush Makhanas in grinder and add to boiling milk, allow to cook for 3 mins and stir continuously to avoid burn.
- Deseed Khajoor and finely chop it
- Now add chopped dry fruits, Khajoor, Raisin, Saffron strands (dissolve in 2 tbs milk) and Cardamon powder and cook it for 3 to 5 mins more.keep it aside
- Cut dices of Apple and add in Kheer when it cum at normal room temperature.
- If Kheer is very thick, add little milk and mix it properly, keep it in refrigerator for at least 1 hr before serving.
- Serve chilled and garnish with Cherry and Sugar net.
